New York State Police troopers stopped Bronx resident Steven Gary at approximately 6 p.m. on Oct. 27 on the parkway in Pleasant Valley when he committed a traffic violation.
During the subsequent stop, it was determined that Gary, 55, was driving with a suspended license.
Police said that further investigation found that Gary was illegally in possession of a loaded Smith and Wesson semi-automatic handgun, two loaded 15-round magazines, cocaine and more than 40 grams of marijuana.
Gary was arrested and charged with three counts each of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
He was also charged with criminal possession of marijuana and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Gary was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court this week to answer the charges.
